FAQ's about Facility Rentals

What is included in a rental?

            The rental of Fern Hill Education Center or Fern Hill Pavilion includes:
Bathrooms in Fern Hill Education Center
Full Kitchen 
Tables and Chairs for 150 guests 
Trash removal
Event deck 
(Refer to contracts for restricted areas)
 
            The rental of the Studebaker Farmhouse includes:
10 acres and Native Trout Stream  
4 Bedrooms
Living Room
Dining Room
Full kitchen with storage and prep areas
3 Full Bathrooms (2 upstairs and 1 downstairs)
Spacious Event Deck
(The barns and basement are strictly off limits)
 
            The rental of Hemlock Cottage includes:
Full Kitchen
1 Bedroom with Full Bath
Washer and Dryer
Living Room
Dining Room
Covered Front Porch overlooking Lake Jeannette
             
 

What about tables and chairs?

 

For events booked prior to January 1st 2012 tables and chairs are available for rent at the fee of $3.00 per table and $1.00 per chair.* Tables and chairs will be placed in the rented facility but set up is not included. 

For events booked after January 1st 2012 tables and chairs as well as set up are included in the rental price.

(Tables are 5 feet round and seat 8 to 10 individuals)

(150 chairs and 19 tables are availible for rent)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Do I hire the catering service or is it provided?
Catering services are hired by the host and are not limited by the facility. (Any new caterer to the facility must schedule an appointment with the operations director at least one month prior to the event.)

What if I want to serve alcohol?

Alcohol is allowed at any event as long as it is being served by a licensed bartender.  C. Barton McCann School of Art reserves the right to card and cut off individuals and those who are visible intoxicated will not be served  (Glass bottles are not permitted. Kegs, plastic containers, aluminum cans, are fine)

 

What about trash removal?

Beginning May 1, 2012 C. Barton McCann School of Art will provide dumpsters for your convenience.

 

How much time do we receive with a weekend rental on campus?

  Friday:

Check in and the pre-event walk through occur between Noon – 4:00pm

Rental Facility is open from Noon – 8:00pm

(All weekday events must be over by 8:00pm)

           Saturday:

Rental facility is open from 9:00am – 11:00pm

Last call must be scheduled between 10:00 – 10:30pm

All guests must be vacated by 11:00pm (Additional rental facility hours after 11:00pm may be purchased in advance [must be scheduled at least one week prior to the event] for a fee of $225.00)

            Sunday:

Post-event walk through must be scheduled at least one week prior to the event

 

Additional Requirements for Any and All Events:

·         Vendor’s delivery must be scheduled at least one week prior to the event

·         Rehearsal and/or rehearsal dinner must be scheduled at least one week prior to the event and must end by 8:00pm (additional hours after 8:00pm are available at a fee of $125.00 per hour.  These must be booked at least one week prior to the event.)

 

How much time do we receive with a weekend rental off campus?

Check in Friday at noon and check out Sunday at noon.

Can I decorate the facility?
Yes. Decorations and personal touches are welcome; however they are the responsibility of the host. Setup and removal and décor assistance can be scheduled with C. Barton McCann School of Art but must be approved one month in advance and may have charges associated.  Nothing however may be nailed, glued, or adhered in a permanent fashion to the walls, windows, floors, or ceilings of any facility. (thumbtacks and staples are strictly prohibited)  Coordination of setup and removal of all décor must be approved by the director at least one week prior to the event.  We asked that anything you bring in, you remove at the end of your stay, additional charges and/or loss of security deposit will result from left items.  Damages caused by decorating will result in the loss of the security deposit plus repair costs. 
The use of candles must be approved by C. Barton McCann School of Art and we prohibit open flames.  Glass coved candles are welcome.
 
Can I tour the grounds during an overnight stay?

Yes. Guests may view the grounds with the exception of areas designated as Private until dusk. Campus grounds are open for guided tours Monday – Friday 9:00am – 4:00pm.  (A guided tour may be scheduled by inquiring upon check in at our administrative offices located in Fern Hill Education Center.)

 
 

Can guests tour the grounds during a private event?

Guests are encouraged to tour the grounds during events (until dusk) but are asked to stay within areas not designated as private.

 

 

Is the gallery open during events?

Yes for an hour without charge.  Additional hours can be purchased ahead of time for a fee of $125.00 per hour.  We encourage guest to visit the gallery and see the Corneal’s wonderful collection.  No flash photography is allowed within the gallery and there is no food or drinks permitted inside the gallery.  Touching of the artwork is strictly prohibited.

 

 

Is smoking allowed?

No.  C. Barton McCann School of Art and all of its properties are none smoking.

(Cigarette butts found on grounds or facilities will result in loss of security deposit)

 

How do we inform guests of rules and regulations?

Refer all guests to the “Visiting McCann” on our website

 

 

Are there additional costs?

          Staffing fee of $400.00 per event

            Security deposit of $500.00 (refundable following a favorable post-event inspection)

 

How can I see the facilities and grounds?
Visitors are always welcome at C. Barton McCann School of Art. However, to preserve the intense educational atmosphere of our classes and the rights of previously scheduled private events, we ask that all tours are accompanied by a C. Barton McCann School of Art Staff Member.
 
The C. Barton McCann School of Art is open Monday through Friday 9AM to 4PM and by appointment only December 1 through March 31. Tours of the campus are available Tuesdays at 10:30 am and Thursdays at 1:30 pm. Reservations are necessary; please call (814) 667-2538 if you are interested in a tour.  Private tours outside of our normal business hours may be scheduled based on availability and may have a charge associated. What if I’m having an event outside and it rains?
Outside events will be moved into the Fern Hill Education Center in the event of a rainstorm with no extra charge.

 

 

Is a shuttle available for rent?

Not by C. Barton McCann School of Art.

What about renters insurance?

Insurance is not available through the C. Barton McCann School of Art but it can be obtained through any insurance company and it will cover deposits lost due to natural disasters or other situations out of the hosts control.
