Students begin their tour of the C. Barton McCann
School of Art with a visit to the Corneal Gallery. Constructed in 2003,
this gallery is an inspiration for those who are interested in architecture
as well as in the visual arts.

Two hand-carved totem poles keep vigil at the gallery's
entrance. Once inside, visitors can walk through eight rooms of art,
surveying original works in charcoal and pen and ink, as well as etchings,
watercolor and oil paintings. Within the central exhibit area, a custom-designed
copper chandelier illuminates the gallery's three floors, showcasing selections
of hand-blown glass, bronze sculpture and wood carvings.
In conjunction with these permanent collections, visiting artists are invited
to show their work at the Corneal Gallery. These exhibits provide an educational
setting where students and instructors interact, discussing the elements and
principles of design and application. Students learn how to make aesthetic judgments
about the artistic merit of works of art. These skills enable students to further
develop their own personal style.
